The purposes of BETA are to seek to foster enlightened government and improved education, library and park facilities by serving in a constructive role to eliminate waste, and supporting those expenditures that are perceived to be cost/benefit effective. It will promote the common good and health, safety and quality of life of residents in the Barrington area. BETA will provide financial and operational oversight for the taxing bodies that impact the Barrington area.

Social Security is the lead parachute for the less fortunate.
And I quote, "Mandating participation into the Social Security system would not only jeopardize the integrity of the existing pension plans, but also create uncertainty as to the benefit levels for future members."
Did I miss something? Why does all of the private sector have to be compelled to contribute to a system that the public educational establishment deems as uncertain? Lastly, the certainty that current TRS members rely on, are taxpayer paid/funded/coerced.
The fact voters agreed to this system decades ago shouldn't be foisted upon us today - no one is entitled to this, it isn't a right - just ask anyone who worked for United Airlines or Kemper Insurance or IBM - pensions in general don't exist anymore, so it should be reflected in our own public sector, else the employer (tax payers) should partake in the same benefits as the employees(public sector).
